"Chai with The Creation of Beauty is Art..!! "

Ooops I did it again.. I have been MIA for awhile but I have exams coming up so with juggling work with studies I am left with a little time..

But now I am here so tell me how have you guys been??

I have a very interesting person that I want you guys to meet.

Drum roll please...Shannon from The Creation of Beauty is Art .

She is amazing and her blog is fantastic. She writes so well. I am such a big fan of hers.I love her choice of words and how well she portrays everything. So without boring you all with my jibber jabber I present to you

"The Creation of Beauty is Art"

S2S :: Please tell me something about yourself and about your blog “The Creation of Beauty is Art"?

Shannon :: My name is Shannon and I love to write. I started my blog “The Creation of Beauty is Art.” a couple of years ago, after I graduated from University. I was finding it difficult to get work in my field and I really felt like I needed a creative outlet. So, I started blogging about what I love most: makeup, fashion, and beauty. So far, blogging has been a really wonderful and fulfilling experience – and I am so glad that I get to do it!

S2S ::  What gave you inspiration to start a blog??

Shannon :: I had started watching YouTube videos of different makeup artists and beauty gurus. As time went on, I started thinking: I wish I could do that! I felt like I had things to say about products I’d tried and makeup looks that inspired me…but I didn’t want to be on camera! Blogging just felt like the natural next step.

S2S :: I agree being on camera can be scary. Hats off to all those you do it.
I visit your blog regularly and the title of the posts always amazes me. Please tell me your secret behind it, if so please reveal a little. What inspires you the most?

Shannon :: Quotes never fail to inspire me. Whether they are quotes I’ve found online, in a book, a song, or whether I’ve written them myself, I love how one line can really sum up different life experiences and make you think. I am probably inspired most by the books I read. There’s nothing like a great story to make you reflect on your own life.

S2S :: You might think I am crazy but I can spend my whole day reading the quotes on pinterest or anywhere else. You did a post some days back about the books and how they are important. I loved that post. Please tell me which is your all time favourite book?

Shannon :: I’m glad you liked it! My all-time favourite book is either “I Think I Love You” by Allison Pearson or “Princess In Love” by Meg Cabot. Both are very different books, but each of the main characters really connected with me.

S2S :: I haven't read Princess In Love but tittle is so nice that I want to read it.
NYFW just went so what trend are you digging right now?

Shannon :: For fall trends, I am totally in love with faux-leather and leather details. I think it can look so chic to have leather sleeves, pockets, or a skirt. There is nothing better for fall, in my opinion! As for the spring fashion week trends? I am all about animal prints. You can never go wrong with them, as far as I’m concerned!

S2S:: So what are your wardrobe staples? And what is your favourite item?

Shannon :: My wardrobe staples are dresses with cute prints, shirts with Peter Pan collars, and comfy band t-shirts. My favourite item is probably my David Bowie shirt – it’s loose, comfy, and has a great print on it. I love that it can be dressed up or dressed down.

S2S ::  If you could buy anything from any store in the world what 5 things would you buy?

Shannon :: Oh gosh, that’s a tough one! Probably a Chanel bag, Chanel earrings, a dress from Dior, Louboutin shoes and….a pink filing cabinet!

S2S ::  What are your favourite stores and what is your favourite trend right now?

Shannon :: My favourite stores are Forever 21, H&M, Zara and HR2. My favourite trend right now is probably fall florals. I am addicted to floral print, so I’m excited to wear it in new ways during the fall season.

S2S ::  What is the best advice you have ever received?

Shannon :: It sounds cheesy, but probably to not give up. Reaching your goals isn’t always easy. In fact, it’s usually really, really hard. But to do something great and make yourself proud, you need to work hard for as long as it takes. I truly believe that determination and perseverance lead to success.

S2S ::  Which make up product do you love and which one you think have received unnecessary hype?

Shannon :: I am a makeup addict, so there are a lot of products that I love. Some of my favourite products are probably the Urban Decay Naked Palette, Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara and Rimmel’s Clean Finish Foundation. Products that I think have received unnecessary hype are actually a lot of MAC products - especially their eyeliners. It’s not that they’re bad, but there are brands out there that I prefer. I know a lot of bloggers lust for MAC products, but they’re not my go-to.

S2S :: I am lusting over Urban Decay's Naked Pallete right now but I am also MAC addict. (guilty)
What is your go to look?

Shannon :: My go to look is some super smokey eye makeup, a cute blouse and a pair of dark skinny jeans.

S2S :: Smokey eyes are amazing but I always mess them up..
Which 80s trend do you want to make a comeback and which current trend do you want to omit?

Shannon :: The 80s were so fun and daring, which I love. My favourite 80s trend would probably be denim jackets and vests. I love that they’re make a comeback in the last few years! A current trend that I want to omit is probably purple lipstick. I think it can look fantastic in photographs, but in real life, it doesn’t always work.

S2S ::  I know its cliche but I have to know.  Who is your style icon and why?

Shannon :: Of course, it’s got to be Audrey Hepburn! She absolutely epitomizes grace, style, and classic elegance. I am such a fan of her work and her style. If only I could be that glamorous in my own life.

S2S :: Things that you can’t live without.

Shannon :: My family, my boyfriend, my laptop and my makeup!

S2S ::  What would you do if you can be invisible for one day?

Shannon :: I would probably just people watch. There’s something really interesting about watching life go on around you and just observing. If I didn’t do that, I would probably just dance around like a fool!

S2S ::   Your dream destination and your guilty pleasure.

Shannon :: My dream destination is London, England. It is my absolute favourite place in the world. I’ve been able to visit there several times and I miss it so much! I would love to travel there by myself and really experience the city. My guilty pleasure is probably the song “Beauty and a Beat” by Justin Bieber. It’s so good that I can’t stop listening to it.

S2S :: One song that you can’t get out of your head.

Shannon :: At the moment, it’s “Work B**ch” by Britney Spears. I am such a huge fan of hers and that song is so catchy and fun!

S2S :: This song is very catchy.. :)
What advice would you like to give your teen age self?

Shannon :: Stop worrying about everything you’re missing out on. When I was growing up, I felt like I was missing out on those normal teenaged experiences (dating, parties, prom, etc). When I think back to myself as a teenager, I know that I wasn’t ready for those experiences. Now I’m grateful that I grew up spending time with my family and friends./

S2S ::  Now let me be little selfish and just ask you something that concerns me. What does a reader want to read when they browse through a blog.

Shannon :: I think that really depends. The most important thing, I think, is to make your posts personal. That stands out to readers more than generic information that they can read anywhere. So, if you’re talking about makeup, include your own opinions about it. If you’re showing your outfit, explain what it means to you and where you wore it. I also think it’s important to have a little variety. Instead of posting about the same thing every single day – mix it up!

S2S ::   Any words of wisdom to a very blogger?

Shannon :: My advice would be to love what you do. When you love what you’re writing about and blogging about, the rest comes a lot easier. Get out there, read other blogs, look for inspiration, and do whatever you can to make each post a reflection of you.

I am very thankful to Shannon for giving me her precious time.

It is true we both live in different continents but thats the good thing about blogging community that you can meet and make friends all across the world and it also gives an opportunity to meet such wonderful and talented people.
Please visit her blog and I can assure you will go there again and again and again..!!

“Chai with Worry About It Later”..!!

Ladies and Gentleman… Here I present to you another one of “Chai with Worry About It Later”

I would like all of you to meet one of my very favorite blogger…

                     “Worry About It Later”

You can tell how amazing her blog would be by the name of the blog only… This blog is written by a wonderful girl, BIANCA. She pours down the magic of her words and her imagination in her blog. Bianca has a great sense of style and she surely does know how to “DRESS to IMPRESS.” The pieces she can pull together are impeccable and the way she pulls it off is even more amazing.

So without any delay… I present to you Bianca from WORRY ABOUT IT LATER

S2S: Please tell me something about yourself and about your fantastic blog “Worry About It Later”?

Bianca: Well hello first and thank you for interviewing me hereJ! My name is Bianca, I’m 26 years old, I live in Vienna (Austria) and started my blog almost a year ago – last year in October.

S2S: Worry About It Later” that is an unusual name ... how did you come up with this name?

Bianca: I wanted to start a blog pretty much earlier than I actually did because I was thinking about a name all the time. Last year I was in Ibiza with my bf and at the port I saw a yacht with the name “why worry” and I was so in love with the name so I modified it a bit and “worry about it later” was the result. It reflects a bit my attitude to life because often we tend to worry about things which are absolutely not important and make our life not easier thereby so I somehow thought myself over the past few yes not to worry about everything. And it should also reflect that fashion is a really passion but it should also not be taken too serious

S2S: Oh… That is so amazing.. So, what gave you inspiration to start a blog?

Bianca: I first started a blog in 2006 at university but it was just a group project. I always wanted to write a blog since then but didn’t find a subject that was really me. And about 4 years back I found a fashionblog and knew this could be a topic for me too.

S2S: That is so true, you have to write about what we love .I adore your style. Some mornings I browse through your blog just to get inspiration on what to wear. How do you mix and match and basically how do you manage to combine pieces so well? I mean I have so many bad dress up days... Any tips to an amateur? (People take out your pens and make notes.)

Bianca: Thanks a lot, that’s so sweet!! Mostly I already think about what I will be wearing when I go to bed because I’m not really a morning person and so it makes it much easier for me in the morning haha. But if I don’t find anything that I like, I wear a black top and black skinny jeans (or shorts, as it is summer right now) and add some silver jewellery. This will always work for me. And as I have a quite big collection of black tops, I think I will never be running out of them ;)

S2S: That’s a handy tip… I will try to decide my outfit in night. What are your wardrobe staples?

Bianca: Black jeans, black oversized tops and a black leather jacket

S2S: I couldn’t agree more black is such a versatile color. If someone is on budget and someone is trying to build a workable wardrobe what pieces do you suggest?

Bianca: This depends very much on one’s personal style. As I am a black lover, I started to buy some black tops at the Zara sale (good time for it again) and found some amazing pieces for about 10€. Investing in a good leather jacket (not poly) is also a good to start with because it works with pretty much everything. I still have my first one which I bought some years ago. I always try to remind myself to the question “would I wear this more than once?” I hardly ever buy anything I know I would wear only once.

S2S: I love Zara’s crazy sale and best part is it is still going on.. You know Bianca, you have inspired me so much that I am going to Zara to buy black top J . Accessorizing can make or break an outfit. As you accessorize so well please tell me what points one should consider while choosing accessories.

Bianca: Most of my accessories are silver jewellery and scarfs if it is colder. I own quite some scarfs which I love to combine with black outfits in fall and winter. Regarding jewellery: I buy practically no jewellery at h&m or shops like that because the rings always make my skin black and I tend to not like them at all after wearing them 2 times. So I stocked up on silver rings and some bangles and necklaces - bought nearly everywhere. I always love to buy jewellery when on holiday – this way it is souvenir and accessorie at once
S2S: I agree because the jewellery from big stores ends up on every ones wardrobe. I love your idea of collecting accessories as souvenir.
Continuing the theme of last question... What is your favourite accessory?

Bianca: Some great silver rings J

S2S: What is your favorite outfit??

Bianca: As already mentioned above I guess it is an all black outfit.haha

S2S: I should have guessed that.. stupid me.. J Who takes your photographs as all of them are so amazing?

Bianca: Nearly all of them are by my amazing friend HDB. She invests much of her time in my pics which I’m very thankful for. But also my mum, my bf and another great friend. The ones of my nails I always take myself.

S2S: I must say all of them are so talented. J What is in your go to makeup bag??

Bianca: Mostly I don’t carry one with me J but if, then there’s a concealer, mascara and a lipstick in it. I’m not that much of a makeup girl.

S2S: If you could buy anything from any store in the world what 5 things would you buy?

Bianca: Huh, that’s a tough question. I would definitely buy a Chanel boy bag (big love) and then I guess it would be Alexander Wang shoes and bags.

S2S: What are your favorite stores and what is your favorite trend right now?

Bianca: Most of my clothes I buy at Zara and H&M but also ASOS and & otherstories are great.
All white is quite good right now as is still is summer here.

S2S: I am so in love with all white look.. :) What is the best advice you have ever received?
Bianca: J
ust do it

S2S: Short and effective. J Let go to history…Shall we?? Which 80s trend do you want to make a comeback and which current trend do you want to omit?

Bianca: I
don’t know if I need the 80s to come back fashion wise and I don’t really like cropped tops that much. I don’t like wedge sneakers that much and don’t own a pair. Good when the trend is over again ;)
S2S: Who is your style icon and why?

Bianca: Blog wise I guess it is Sandra from 5indandup but also Carrie from sex and the city and also the Olsen Twins.
S2S: I love Sandra and what can I say about the Olsens, they are amazing. Your dream destination and your guilty pleasure.

Bianca: New York! Want to go there for so long. But in general I want to travel the world and see every country. It is only a matter of time (….and money…)

S2S: Damn you money why do you always come in between K  New York…What won’t I give to live there… (sighhhh) Let’s talk TV which one you like Gossip Girls or FRIENDS or something else?

Bianca: Sex and the city

S2S: What advice would you like to give your teen age self?

Bianca: Don’t worry too much and stay true to yourself.

S2S: Now let me be little selfish and talk about me.. (wink wink ) What is your advice to Softwares to Stilettos to improve the blog and what do you want to see more there?

Bianca: I always love that your posts are so well researched and one can see that you invest quite some time in your blog – so please just go on J

S2S: That is so sweet of you.. :)

I am so grateful to Bianca for giving me her precious time.
It is true we both live miles apart but I am very thankful to blogging community who has given me an opportunity to meet such wonderful and talented people. (If I ever get lucky enough to visit Vienna I will know who to contact..)
Please visit her blog and I can assure you will go there again and again and again..!!

Chai with "THE CREATIVE BENT"..!!

Hey everyone..

How have you been..??
I am sorry I was out of sight for a while but I hope I was not out of your mind..
But look who did I bring with myself to my blog..

Drum Rolls Please.. THE CREATIVE BENT

Let me introduce to one of my favorite blogger friend "Swati Ailawadi". She is a proud owner of

The blog is as amazing as she is..:) I love her blog and whenever I stop by “THE CREATIVE BENT” I always get inspired and always get a new perspective towards the things.

So without further ado I will get you acquainted with her and with her amazing blog.
Here we go:

S2S*:  Please tell me something about yourself and about your blog “The Creative Bent”?

The Creative Bent: Hello to Softwares to Stilettos readers :) I am a professional blogger from Delhi, with an accessory design background. Besides writing for brands I author my own blog -The Creative Bent. The blog talks about fashion as well as décor, and tries to provide a more logical and thoughtful perspective on both.

S2S: I love your blog so tell me what gave you inspiration to start a blog?

The Creative Bent: For The Creative Bent, I felt passionate to prove that fashion has a brainy side, unlike popular belief. And otherwise, I have always been inclined towards blogging. I have had half-baked blogs in the past- 2007 and in 2011 as well.

S2S: Well,I am a veracious reader of your blog and all your posts are so intriguing and they always have the logical side to it so is there any secret behind it, if so please reveal a little.

The Creative Bent: Haha! Well I don’t know if it’s a secret but whenever I am reading or looking at anything, I am in my reader’s shoes. The questions that come into my head are often what give me the idea for a post. I actually partly learnt this technique from another great blogger friend of mine, Shug Avery.

S2S: That is very true..!!
So what do you think about Indian Blogging Community and how does it different from other bloggers from around the world.

The Creative Bent: The best part about Indian Blogging community, right now is that it is not saturated. Yes, there are famous names around, blogs which are doing very well but none of us has reached a huge global milestone, which makes it possible for all of us to dream together. The possibility itself is thrilling.

S2S: I couldn't agree more..The Blogging is still at its initial phase in India and that is great.
Well, you and I we both know the constraints of Indian fashion so what would you like to advise an Indian Girl about the fashion?

The Creative Bent: Constraints of Indian fashion, wow that’s a post idea right there.. could I please steal it ? :P My advice will be to get creative with your dressing and define your individual style. Majorly it boils down to how you carry off something. A girl in hot pants may look dated and one in pants totally fashionable. Think out of the box. That is the key to staying fashionable when you have constraints of hem lines, necklines or a limited number of brands to shop from.

S2S: Oh thats is very true.. Its not the clothes but the person in the clothes that matters.. So what are your wardrobe staples? And what is your favorite item?

The Creative Bent: My wardrobe staple is printed pants. If I could I would stock a lot of them in various colors, silhouettes etc. But my favorite item is a maxi dress.

S2S: If you could buy anything from any store in the world what 5 things would you buy?

The Creative Bent:

  •       A statement white shirt, say from 3.1 Philip Lim or Jil Sander.
  •       Lucia Bruni Pure Bottle
  •       A gorgeous artwork from a lesser known, almost anonymous artist.
  •      Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick
  •      Tarun Tahiliani couture for whenever wedding bells ring a few years down the line.

S2S: Those are some wonderful picks..:) What are your favorite stores and what is your favorite trend right now?

The Creative Bent: My favorite store is not here yet. I am still not in utter love..still waiting for the charming brand of my dreams lol. And favorite trend is a macro one. I love that you could mix elements from different fashion sub cultures, countries and decades. You can be feminine and androgynous together. Earlier say if you were a hippie, you were that from head to toe. Now it’s more eclectic

S2S: What is the best advice you have ever received?

The Creative Bent: Stay grateful and spend your time and energy into thinking about what you want, not worrying about what you do not want to happen.

S2S: Which 80s trend do you want to make a comeback and which current trend do you want to omit?

The Creative Bent: I loved the shoulder pads, but they are already back. And at the risk of ghastly reactions, I want the huge rockstar hair to comeback too.  I want to omit height reducing gladiator and ankle strap flats.

S2S: Who is your style icon and why?

The Creative Bent: Nobody in particular. If I like someone’s style in one outfit, the picture imprints in my head (or pinterest). But in general I am a big fan of minimalist approach to style.

S2S: Things that you can’t live without.

The Creative Bent: People to love and something interesting to do.

S2S: What would you do if you can be invisible for one day?

The Creative Bent: The Creative Bent is not creative enough to answer this one. *wink

S2S: Your dream destination and your guilty pleasure.

The Creative Bent: Paris Paris Paris J but not for the Eiffel Tower or anything… I want to roam the cobblestone paths and just take in the aura of creativity everywhere. And guilty pleasure is good food for me.

S2S: One song that you can’t get out of your head.

The Creative Bent:I love it by Icona Pop.

S2S: Ryan Gosling or Ryan Reynolds?

The Creative Bent:Both please. Lol

S2S: Gossip Girls or FRIENDS?

The Creative Bent: FRIENDS

S2S: What advice would you like to give your teen age self?

The Creative Bent: Study economics and history instead of science at school.

S2S: Now let me be little selfish and just ask you something that concerns me. What does a reader want to read when they browse through a blog.

The Creative Bent: Every blog’s readership is truly unique.  And you will be attracting a particular category only. People could be coming to you for style inspiration, gorgeous pictures or for your happening lifestyle or your honest writing style or radical thoughts.  Truly anything..! Have a look at your most engaging and traffic generating content vs the ones that didn’t do well. You will have an indicative answer.

S2S: Your blog “The Creative Bent” holds a spectacular position in Indian Blogging Community, would you like to give some tips about the blogging. Any words of wisdom?

The Creative Bent: It means a lot that you think that way for the blog. Very grateful! As for advice, I would say never under estimate the power of pictures on your blog. Whether you use pictures from the web or click yourself, remember they are as important as text. Only text will find very less takers in fashion blogging. Also, putting thought into the whole aesthetics and graphics of your blog and its USP, is essential.

I hope you enjoyed having CHAI** with THE CREATIVE BENT and I hope you will love her blog as much as I do..
She has wonderful insights about fashion and she is very humble person.

I am so grateful to Swati for giving me her precious time.
and for giving us "THE CREATIVE BENT" -Click me Click me..!!
Please follow her blog and I can assure you will have a blast..!!

P.S : We didn't actually have chai(tea) together but I wish you will love to read this post with some tea and then we can all be having "CHAI with THE CREATIVE BENT".
